KERALA CM PINARAYI VIJAYAN TO BE CHIEF GUEST AT COASTAL SHIPPING AND IWT SUMMIT

Chief Minister of Kerala Shri Pinaryi Vijayan will be the chief guest at the 4th edition of The Coastal Shipping & IWT Business Summit to be held at Crowne Plaza, Kochi, Kerala on 5 August.
Besides addressing the business summit in the evening, Shri Pinarayi Vijayan will also grace the India Seatrade Award 2016, a most coveted award for excellence in Coastal Shipping & Inland Water Transport, that recognizes individuals, organizations and companies, who have made a huge difference with their outstanding contributions to these sectors.
Representatives from the trading community, experts from coastal shipping and inland water transport, logistics and supply chain management specialists will converge to brainstorm developments that have taken place in the sector and to float ideas to smoothen the pace of progress.
This year’s Summit is being held in the back-drop of a slew of policy initiatives taken by the Shipping Ministry over the past twelve months to implement the ambitious port-led development programme ‘Sagaramala’ Project which seeks to enhance port connectivity and encourage coastal shipment of commodities to reduce overall logistic costs, thereby enabling ports to become drivers of country’s overall economic growth.
The National Perspective Plan for the Sagarmala Project was officially released by prime minister Narendra Modi in April.

The conference is being organised by India Seatrade with support from Ministry of Shipping and various trade bodies/associations.
The central theme of this year’s conference is unlocking the potential of coastal shipping and inland waterways.
