Faster, safer, more cost efficient and more environment friendly – modern ships play a key role in world trade. Everyone who needs to stay upfront on international market needs the SMM – Shipbuilding, Machinery and Marine Technology, International Trade Fair, Hamburg.
The proposed highlights of SMM 2010 will include150 accompanying conferences, worships, symposia, and meetings on similar lines to the previous shipbuilding trade fairs in Hamburg. The focus will be on service, cost-efficiency and financing, as well as technology and environmental protection. CESA – Community of European Shipyards Association, and EMEC – European Marine Equipment Council, will also hold meetings during SMM 2010.
Ship Finance Forum
At the International Ship Finance Forum, shipping and financial experts will discuss current challenges involved with financing of vessels and secure ways of financing investments in ships.
CIMAC Circle
CIMAC, International Council on Combustion Engines, traditionally stages the CIMAC Circle, spotlighting current trends in the marine diesel segment, on the third day of the SMM. Cutting consumption levels will again be right at the top of the list of priority subjects next year.

The SMM India 2009, the biggest International Maritime Conference and Expo in Mumbai, is reaching an end. The eminent personalities from round the globe are now visiting the wide spectrum of maritime products and technologies exhibited in the stalls.
There were two conference sessions for the day. The paper presentation on Safety of Navigation – Technology Update is delivered by Tarun K. Mathur (Capt.), Director – Sales Transas Marine Pacific, Singapore.
The final session of the 2009 expo was about Training & Human Resources. Capt.S. Bhardwaj ,Vice Chancellor, AMET University, India and K.N.Deboo (Capt.), Chairman GlobalMET – India Chapter and Director-Principal, Anglo Eastern Marine Training Centre, India spoke on the topic.
The first day of SMM India 2009, ended on a high note with who’s who of the global maritime industry. Two sessions on vital aspects of marine industry were discussed on the day, viz. on Maritime Policy and Economic and Financial Crisis – Its Impact on Shipping Finance Markets.
Day two discussed on “India’s Shipbuilding – Opportunities, Challenges & Imperatives” in the first session followed by “Infrastructure, Support Services & Logistics” in the second session and the topic “Maritime Security” in the third session.
The event will be a remarkable milestone in the maritime history of India.

The Guests of Honour were Hauke V Schlegel, Managing Director – VDMA German Marine and Offshore Equipment Industries Association Inc. and A.P.V.N.Sarma, Secretary (Shipping), Union Ministry of Shipping, India.

SMM India 2009 was officially inaugurated today at the Bombay Exhibition Center at 11.30 A.M.
The welcome speech was delivered by Arun K. Mago, Chairman, Advisory Council, SMM India 2009.
The event was addressed by Micheal Rosenberg, Vice President, E.J. Krause and Associates Inc., USA. A keynote address was delivered by Inspector General, SPS Basra, YSM, PTM, TM, Commander Coast Guard Region, West, India.
The Guests of Honour were Mr Hauke V Schlegel, Managing Director – VDMA German Marine and Offshore Equipment Industries Association Inc. and A.P.V.N.Sarma, Secretary (Shipping), Union Ministry of Shipping, India.
The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Sajan Sharma, Director, Inter Ads Exhibition Pvt. Ltd., India.
