The recently elected Chairman and President of Nippon Kaiji Kyokai, Noboru Ueda, is a 39-year veteran of the Society, having joined Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (Class NK) in 1969. He graduated from the University of Tokyo with a Bachelor’s degree in 1967 and a Master’s degree in 1969, respectively, both in naval architecture.

Since than held held various positions in Business Development and Marketing and Sales within Germanischer Lloyd.In his present position he is supporting GL's activities e.g. in India as well as other rising Maritime Nations around the globe.

Ajit Tewari took over as the Chairman & Managing Director of Hindustan Shipyard Ltd. on 3rd February, 2004. Since his taking over, HSL has shown a remarkable transformation in its performance and turnover in Shipbuilding, Submarine Repairs and Ship-repair activities.Due to his efforts, HSL, which was a perennial loss making Company since almost 25 years, was able to turn around, earn profits in last 3 consecutive years and achieve consistent increase.

Sheila Lim is Counsel and Assistant Registrar with the Singapore Chamber of Maritime Arbitration (SCMA). As Counsel she heads SCMA and oversees its daily operations, administers cases under the SCMA Rules and leads its business development efforts. She is a lawyer by profession. She obtained her Bachelor of Laws degree from the National University of Singapore and her Master of Laws degree (in maritime law) from University College, University of London and is called to the Singapore Bar.
